Applicant Requirements

  • Operating in the Province of St. Louise where Daughters of Charity have an active presence, and;

  • 501(c)(3) organizations listed in the Official Catholic Directory (OCD) including recognized members of the Vincentian family (e.g. Daughters of Charity, Congregation of the Mission, Ladies of Charity, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society), or;

  • Other 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations, not listed in the OCD.  To be eligible, the organization must show clear evidence that it operates and will continue to operate in accord with the moral teachings of the Catholic Church (see FAQ for more information) and provides service to those living in poverty with the spirit and values of the Daughters of Charity and other members of the Vincentian family.

What We Fund


Grants will be awarded on the following criteria:


  • Qualitative and/or quantitative goals and objectives are set and are capable of being measured to evaluate programs.

  • Collaboration and community involvement/support is exhibited. 

  • Other funding sources are available for the program (organizations should not request 100% of the program cost)

  • Construction/renovation projects are needed to further the mission of the organization and will increase the capacity of the organization to serve people living in poverty (funding will not be awarded for more than 25% of the total cost of the new construction/renovation).

  • Organization is providing Systemic Change.

What We DO NOT Fund


  • Grant funds are not available for capital campaigns, galas or events, debt reduction, or private individuals.

Mission Grants are usually large grants to provide funds for general operating costs or to start-up programs/projects and may be requested for multiple years. All requests must describe the organization’s role in systemic
